MR. DAVID C. MERCADO

Chairman

Mr. David C. Mercardo is the Chairman of the Board of Stronghold Insurance Co., Inc., a position he holds starting December 1980 when he and his new Management Team took over the operations including the change of the Company name of then Mabuhay Insurance & Guaranty, Inc.

Mr. Mercado has had extensive experiences in non-life insurance. To name a few, he was once the General Manager of First Integrated Bonding and Insurance Co., Inc. He also became the President of Quickway Insurance Services, Inc.

MR. ROMULO I. DELOS REYES, JR.

Director

The current President & General Manager of Stronghold Insurance Co., Inc. is Mr. Romulo I. delos Reyes, Jr.

Mr. delos Reyes started working at Stronghold Insurance as a Collector. Through sheer determination and perseverance, he was able to climb up the ladder in the organization holding responsible positions in Underwriting until he became Vice President for Operations and later Executive Vice President & General Manager. His positive attitude towards work paid off when he was appointed as the President & General Manager of the Company starting 01 July 2012.

He is a product of the New Era University where he graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Financial Management. Mr. delos Reyes has attended various seminars, conferences and symposia pertaining to Non-Life insurance, Management and Non-Managerial courses both here and abroad which helped him hone his technical and managerial skills that brought him to where he is now. He is a licensed Non-Life Company Underwriter for Fire, Marine, Casualty and Suretyship issued by the Insurance Commission. He was a member and at some point became an officer of the various prestigious non-life insurance clubs and organizations. He is a regular member of the Insurance Institute for Asia and the Pacific.

ATTY. FLORENTINO H. GARCES

Director

Atty. Florentino H. Garces was recently appointed as the Executive Vice President of Stronghold Insurance Co., Inc. He also sits a Member of the Board of Directors in his capacity as the Corporate Secretary as well as acts as legal counsel of the Company.

Atty. Garces began his career with the Company in September 1981 as a Legal Secretary/Bonds Clerk of our Manila Service Office located in Escolta, Manila. He then rose from the ranks becoming one of the senior officers occupying the position of Senior Vice President and eventually the current position he now holds.

During his primary and secondary schooling, Atty. Garces was a consistent honor student and recipient of achievement awards in various scholastic competitions. He took up BSC Accounting at the Technological Institute of the Philippines and has passed various government examinations. He finished his Bachelor of Laws at the Manuel L. Quezon University. Having passed the Bar examination, he is an active member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), Manila IV Chapter.

Atty. Garces has attended various seminars and conventions pertaining to non-life insurance as well as Management courses. He is a certified licensed Company Underwriter for Fire, Marine, Casualty and Surety Business by the Office of the Insurance Commission. He was once the Secretary then became Vice-President of Philippine Association of Surety Underwriters (PHILASSURERS) and a member of the Beta Sigma Lambda Fraternity, Inc. (MLQU Chapter).

MR. NOEL G. MERCADO

Member

Mr. Noel G. Mercado is a member of the Board of Directors of Stronghold Insurance Co., Inc. He joined the Company in August 1983 where he held various responsible positions and is currently the Regional Manager of our Central Luzon Regional Office.

Mr. Mercado is a graduate of the University of Assumption, City of San Fernando, Pampanga with a Degree in BSC Accounting. He is happily married to Rose Mary Y. Mercado and is an active member of various civic organizations in their locality.

ATTY. CORNELIO T. RIVERA

Independent Director

Atty. Cornelio T. Rivera is an Independent Director in the Board of Directors of Stronghold Insurance Co., Inc. His scholastics record include being a graduate of Associate in Arts at the Far Eastern University, Bachelor or Laws at the University of the Philippines and Master of Business Administration (MBA) where his major field is General Management.

On top of passing the Bar examination wherein he is an active member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Quezon City Chapter, he has passed several government examinations.

His work experience include holding various responsible positions in the Export Processing Zone Authority. He is currently the President of Four Hills Business Machines, Inc. Aside from the various government sponsored, private seminars and conferences that Atty. Rivera attended, he has also taken up Management of Modern Small Business , ISSI sponsored by the University of the Philippines, Marketing Management Seminar conducted by Ateneo University and 2 nd Administrative Management Course, Bureau of Small Business, Ateneo University.

MR. EDMUND V. SAIYO

Independent Director

Mr. Edmundo V. Saiyo is an Independent Director in the Board of Directors of Stronghold Insurance Co., Inc.

He is currently the President/CEO of EM Builders & Developers, Inc. He attended college at the University of Agustin where he graduated Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE).

MRS. SONIA M. ROCO

Independent Director

Mrs. Sonia M. Roco is a woman who has achieved the balance of raising a family and pursuing a successful career. Wife and “partner” of the late Senator and Secretary Raul S. Roco, they have six children.

Mrs. Roco graduated from St. Joseph’s College in Quezon City with a degree on Liberal Arts and Bachelor of Science in Education, magna cum laude. She earned a masters degree in Communication Arts and in Social Psychology from the Ateneo de Manila University. She also took up courses at the Child Development Center of the University of the Philippines. She also finished courses in Basic Management Program and Program for Development Managers at the Asian Institute of Management.

She has an extensive experience in the field of education where she was a former Classroom Teacher, Lecturer, Facilitator and Trainor in various schools. Mrs. Roco is a supporter of culture and the arts because of her belief that our Filipino culture is where our soul as a people is expressed.

Mrs. Roco sits as a member of the Board of Stronghold Insurance Co., Inc. in her capacity as Independent Director.

MRS. CORAZON T. AGUIRRE

Member (Treasurer)

Mrs. Corazon Tano Aguirre holds the position of Treasurer of Stronghold Insurance Company, Inc. She sits as a member of Board of Directors of the Company.

Mrs. Aguirre is a graduate of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. She joined then Mabuhay Insurance & Guaranty Co., Inc. in 1974, which is now Stronghold Insurance Company, Inc., where she held various responsible positions in Accounting until her appointment to the position of Treasurer last January 16, 2020. She has attended various seminars in relation to non-life insurance and Accounting including Taxation, Labor Laws and SSS related matters.

MA. VICTORIA L. MERCADO

Independent Director

Mrs. Ma. Victoria L. Mercado is a member of the Board of Directors of Stronghold Insurance Co., Inc. and occupies the position of Vice Chairman.

Mrs. Mercado graduated from the Philippine Women's University with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She is also a holder of Degree in Master of Business Administration, Banking and Finance.

Her experience includes working with Philippine National Bank wherein she rose from the ranks until she became Operations Head of the bank's Ayala Branch and was able to attend various trainings and seminars in the field of banking and finance. Mrs. Mercado is the current President of Flushing Meadows Resort and Playground located in Panglao, Bohol. She also holds directorial positions in other companiLs
